Title :

Morphology on male genitalia of fourteen Satyrinae species from Korea (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae)

Abstract :

The morphology of male genitalia was studied of 10 genera and 14 species of Korean Satyrinae.  The genitalia was observed under a steroecopic microscope and the SEM. In general, the tegument was triangular or pentagonal in dorsal view.  The costa and the ampulla were fused to each other, and the harpe was species specific.  The zone of aedeagus was distinct, while the basal prong did not exist.  The saccus was well developed and the vinculum was bent backward.  In present study, genus Ypthima was considered as plesiomorphic because they have primitive tegument without gnathos.  In addition, they are also considered as an isolated genus in Satyrinae by their triangular tegument.
